Nathan Scott Lipson

Meet Nathan Lipson – a dynamic, young transportation planner based in New Orleans, Louisiana. They hold a B.A. in Urban Planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Sustainable Real Estate Development from Tulane University. Nathan is a true expert in their field, having consulted for airports, transit agencies, and numerous government agencies in Louisiana and beyond, putting their expertise to the test time and time again.

Nathan's journey in the world of transportation planning started during their graduate school years when they started working at a boutique urban planning firm in New Orleans. In just six years, they rose from Planning Intern to Transportation Planning Analyst, becoming the go-to AICP planner for the firm's role as On-Call Planning Consultant for the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). Nathan's work on MSY's $1.2 billion passenger terminal project to replace the former commercial aviation terminal from 2017-2019 proved their mettle in research agility for niche client requests, confident and effective interagency coordination, and attention to detail in every task from graphic design to professional communication.

Now Nathan has moved on to even bigger things, joining WSP as Senior Transportation/Environmental Planner in their New Orleans office in April 2023. As a crucial member of the WSP team, Nathan will undoubtedly use their talents to the fullest, tackling new challenges and making an even bigger impact in the field of transportation planning.

Nathan's interests extend far beyond their professional life. They are a fierce advocate for housing equitability, transit, water management, and international travel. They believe that everyone deserves access to safe and affordable housing and transportation, as well as clean and reliable water sources. Nathan's passion for travel has taken them around the world, giving them a unique perspective on how different cities and regions approach transportation and urban planning.

In their free time, Nathan can often be found working in their garden or taking their rescue dog to City Bark dog park. They also serve on the board of the Metro New Orleans Section of the American Planning Association (APA) Louisiana Chapter as Section Director and as National Expansion Director for the Alpha Rho Chi professional fraternity for architecture and the allied arts.
